Challenge Asthma

The World Health Organisation estimates that there are over 300 million asthma sufferers worldwide, and annual worldwide deaths from asthma have been estimated at over 250,000.

The underlying cause of asthma is unknown although there are several contributing factors such as a family history of asthma, allergic conditions, exposure to tobacco smoke, premature birth and respiratory infections.

However asthma can develop without ever having any of these factors.  Typical symptoms of asthma include breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, and / or cough.  Acute episodes of some or all of these symptoms are called asthma exacerbations.

Synexus are conducting an awareness campaign across 9 countries and are looking for volunteers to join our database.  We are already supported by a database of over 400,000 patients and have successfully placed thousands onto studies.

Participating Clinics:  Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside, Midlands, Scotland, Thames Valley, Wales

Cardiovascular Disease

CVD, a cause of heart attacks and strokes, is responsible for nearly half of all deaths in Europe each year, with 191,000 of those deaths in the UK alone.  Currently there are nearly 2.7 million people in the UK living with CVD.*

Synexus are helping to assess treatments that may help reduce the risk of heart attacks or strokes in people who already have CVD, or those who may be at risk of developing it.
