Is there a breach of confidentiality?
No, as Synexus has no direct contact with patients unless they should approach us in response to a letter from the GP. The independent pharmacists commissioned to undertake the mailing with GP practices are highly professional and bound by their own professional code of ethics, the Data Protection Act and where appropriate the ABPI Code of Practice. Synexus only obtain patient information when patients have asked to participate ion a study and have given formal agreement for their GP to provide relevant medical information. Every study we undertake has been rigorously examined and ethically approved, and all procedures are carefully scrutinised and quality assured.^ back to top
